Venus Williams is not only a trailblazer in the sporting industry but also in the fashion industry. Be it her fashion statements on-court or establishing her own fashion line like EleVen, Williams’ commitment to the world of style reflects her love for the fashion industry. And when the two industries blended through Zendaya’s tennis-based “Challengers” movie outfits, Williams once again showed how people could embrace “tennis-core” into their day-to-day lifestyle.
Venus Williams has recently collaborated with the luxury sportswear brand, Lactose’s new “Play Big” campaign. And during an interview, she was asked about her thoughts on people embracing the “sexy tennis core trend”. The question referred to the Challenger’s movie’s press tour dress. Zendaya, the main protagonist of the movie, wore “tennis core” dress throughout the promotions. It included polo dresses, neutral colors, and stilettoes spiked on tennis balls.
Not only that, through her dresses, she also paid tribute to iconic figures like Althea Gibson, apart from Serena and Venus Williams. This created a whole new buzz in both industries. Williams, who showed her support for the movie during its premiere in LA, said, “Tennis never goes out of style. It’s always trending! I’ve always loved seeing people embracing tennis-core and incorporating it into everyday style in their own unique way.”

She further added, “Tennis has long been at the intersection of sports and fashion. And Lacoste was one of those pioneers who helped elevate sports-chic looks.” Venus Williams, who once admitted, “I love making a statement”, is also known for her special Wimbledon-inspired collection, among many others.

Even with her red carpet looks and Met Gala appearances, Williams has always been vocal about her bold fashion choices. Fans have also loved watching the tennis icon embrace the courts with style. However, a few months ago, Williams shared disheartening news about her clothing line, EleVen.
Venus Williams’ “EleVen” stops its operation
Before embarking on her WTA tour at the start of the season, Venus Williams announced that EleVen would go out of operation for the time being. Williams, who launched the brand back in 2007, was also the chief designer of the company. After producing her iconic on-court apparel for over 15 years, the seven-time Grand Slam Champion halted the operation to “refine our strategies and enhance the overall brand experience.”

However, she continued, “This pause is not a farewell but a see you soon.” Williams admitted that the decision was not an easy one. But she considers it important to emerge stronger when she comes back.
