Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo left a €20,000 (£17,850) for hotel staff after spending 10 days holidaying in Greece.

The Portugal forward, who recently signed for Italian side Juventus from Real Madrid in a €100m (£89m) deal, had been staying at the high end Costa Navarino resort in Peloponnese after the World Cup.

He was said to be so impressed by the hospitality of staff at the hotel that he left the enormous tip to be shared equally among staff.

Greek online sports magazine Sportime.gr reported: “The 10 employees, who had been tasked with providing services to Ronaldo’s family and to keep them away from the paparazzi, each received €2,000”.
