Sung Hyun Park raised her arms and placed her hands on her head before hugging her caddie and wiping away tears.

She simply could not contain her emotions after winning her second major championship — and doing it in such dramatic fashion.

Park beat So Yeon Ryu on the second hole of a playoff Sunday in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in Kildeer, Ill.

After a brief rain delay on the par-4 16th hole at Kemper Lakes, Ryu’s birdie try rolled past, and Park finished off her South Korean compatriot with a 10-footer. Japanese teen Nasa Hataoka, after shooting an 8-under 64 to post at 10 under, dropped out of the playoff with a par on the par-4 18th.

David Toms made one long putt to take the lead, then another one to preserve it on his way to a one-shot victory at the U.S. Senior Open in Colorado Springs, Colo. Toms sank a 15-foot birdie on the par-3 16th hole at the Broadmoor to take the lead, then held on with a 20-foot downhill make after laying up from a fairway bunker on the 17th hole. He saved par with a downhill knee-knocker from 3 feet on No. 18 to close out the round of even-par 70. Toms finished 3-under 277 to edge Jerry Kelly, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Tim Petrovic. … In Potomac, Md., Francesco Molinari delivered a record performance to win the final edition of the Quicken Loans National. Molinari holed a 50-foot eagle putt to start the back nine, and he never stopped until he turned the final round into a runaway at the TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm. The Italian closed with an 8-under 62 for an eight-shot victory, matching the largest margin this year on the PGA Tour.

Tiger Woods shot 66 and tied for fourth, his best finish in three months, though he never got closer than four shots. Ryan Armour finished second, earning one of four spots to the British Open.

Busch outduels Larson

Kyle Busch outdueled Kyle Larson on a wild final lap in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill., earning his fifth victory of the season.

It was Busch’s second win at Chicagoland, joining his victory in 2008. It also was win No. 48 for his career, matching Herb Thomas for 14th on the Cup Series’ list.

Busch moved into the lead on a restart with 58 laps to go, replacing Kevin Harvick at the front of the field. Busch, Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. — NASCAR’s top three teams so far this season — were up front with about 40 laps left before a hard-charging Larson crashed the party.

First, he cruised by Harvick for second. He appeared to be in trouble after brushing the wall with seven laps left, but he kept going and Busch was slowed by a couple cars at the back of the field.

Busch and Larson then were neck-and-neck on the final lap. Larson bumped into the back of Busch’s car and moved into the lead. Busch then raced into the back of Larson’s car and sped ahead for the victory.

Williams questions testing

Serena Williams says it isn’t fair that she has been drug-tested more than other American tennis players this year.

“Just test everyone equally,” the seven-time Wimbledon champion said at a pre-tournament news conference.

She was asked about the issue because of a recent report by Deadspin that said Williams had been checked five times in 2018 by June, more than other U.S. women and men in the sport. U.S. Anti-Doping Agency spokesman Brad Horn told The Associated Press that the five tests conducted on Williams were a result of three visits from a test collector.

Manny Machado and Mark Trumbo hit consecutive homers after the Angels lost a popup in the sun, and the Baltimore Orioles beat Los Angeles, 8-2, to end a seven-game losing streak. After the Orioles took charge with a six-run fourth inning, Trumbo homered again in the fifth and Trey Mancini also connected to help Baltimore secure its only victory during a seven-game homestand that began with four straight losses to Seattle.

The Orioles improved to 1-15 against the AL West and won at home for only the second time in 19 games since May 13.
