Alamian brothers rated among world's top 64 tennis players

Iranian table tennis players Nima and Noshad Alamian have exhibited inspired performances at the 2017 World Table Tennis Championships in Germany, and have been ranked among the world's top 64.

Noshad brushed aside his Belgian opponent Florent Lambiet 4-0 (11-8, 11-7, 11-4 and 13-11) on Wednesday, and advanced to the main draw of the tournament at the Düsseldorf Messe in the western German city of Düsseldorf.

Earlier in the day, his younger brother, Nima, had managed to qualify for a place in the starting lineup of the championships.

The results come as Iranian tennis players will play in the main draw of the World Table Tennis Championships for the first time in history.

The 2017 World Table Tennis Championships kicked off in Germany on May 29 and will conclude on June 5.

Dozens of male and female tennis players from various world countries, including Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, China, Chinese Taipei, the Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Portugal, Russia, South Korea, Spain and Sweden are participating in the competitions.
