Last year in an interview, Kyrgios revealed how much he dislikes long trips between tournaments.

'Some days it's fun to play but sometimes I'd rather be doing something else. When I'm on the road there are times when I find the motivation tough. I don't like the long trips, I dread them. I hate the travelling.'

'I played eighteen tournaments and I probably tanked eight of them, but I'm still ranked in the top twenty,' he added.

The Australian no.1 revealed his Wimbledon 2018 ambitions, saying he hoped to progress to the second week.

‘I’m looking forward to it,’ he said. ‘Last year I was injured, didn’t perform well. It’s one of my favourite tournaments and I’d like to do much better than last year. I feel very confident,’ he said ahead of the tournament.

‘After the Australian Open, I was in a pretty dark place,’ Kyrgios told The Telegraph in Miami last month.

‘The tournament for me was a disaster. The couple of weeks leading up, I wasn’t in good physical shape. I was in a tough mental space and I wasn’t able to prepare the way I wanted to.

‘Then I thought about the position Alja was in. I’ve seen her when she was in a sling, just after surgery, not being able to hit and the dark place she was in. It put a bit of perspective into my life. Seeing her more often is helping my headspace.’
